When you consider that (apart from my adult teeth) every part of my body has belonged to me since birth, and I know more or less that I've abused it all in equal measure, it's a surprise that some parts are wearing out so quickly.
Thinking back to my much wilder-than-average youth I would have put money on my liver and lungs failing first but instead its my knees that are giving way
OK I may have abused them slightly with various climbing, fire service, and motorcycle accidents, and the huge loads I've carried up mountains and down potholes on various expeditions, but generally I've never had a lot of problems with my knees.
Shoulder, back and hips have had twinges from various accidents but knees? No...
Recently I tripped when helping my daughter load up her car and fell heavily on my knees, this was rapidly followed by a second fall when walking across a carpark loaded down with fishing gear - result? My left knee is stiff and my right knee is sore most of the time.
I'm being nagged by She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed to take myself to the doctor to get them looked at but I already know what he will say - lose some of the 4 or 5 stones of excess weight that I'm carrying
Diet or painful knees ??? Hmm... I think I'll have a doughnut and cup of coffee whilst I think about it!
