Thought I’d say “arseholes” to the physiotherapists (following my knee operation) and have a spell at fly casting practice yesterday. Today I’m in agony…
Also despite spooling on one of my best Rio shooting lines I was still only hitting 10 yards, way under what I used to do.
Yes I know the casting action should all be in my elbow but I can’t help putting extra strain on the right knee at the end of the cast… So I’m not the best caster in the world, but I’m a long way from the worst and can usually hit 15-20 yards and with some accuracy too. Why then has a simple knee operation messed up my cast so badly?
I know I slightly lean forward at the end of my cast and it’s this that damaging my newly repaired knee. God knows what it will be like when I’m waist-deep in the waves bracing myself against the tide and undertows
Looks like I’m ‘beached’ for a while and my waders still gathering dust! I’ve got a follow-up appointment in a couple of weeks with the surgeon who did the op so perhaps he can offer me some crumbs of comfort about when I’ll be back to normal. Until then it looks like the local fish are safe
