I mainly fish Ringstead/Osmington as it's local to me but in the summer I spend more than a bit of time rockhopping the Purbeck coast. The stretch below Worth Matravers from Winspit to Dancing Ledge has some great marks where the old stone quarries give you access to the sea. The map below gives you the main marks I fish, but sorry I've kept a few off the map - not out of spite, but because they're a bit dangerous to fish and only suitable for one person (me!)
If you're fishing any of these marks then you MUST wear a self-inflating lifejacket as it's almost impossible to get out of the sea if you slip or get washed in, and there's little or usually no mobile phone signal...

All the usual suspects can be caught along this coast; wrasse, pollack, bass, bream, mullet, conger, huss, mackerel, etc but it occasionally throws up some oddities - my most unusual being a 3lb Turbot! You can spin, deep spin, plug, float fish, fly fish or shore fish but I recommend you keep a hold of your rod, partly to be ready for a huge tugging bite, but also to keep your hook/weight moving to prevent it getting washed into crevices by the tide.
Some of the marks such as East Winspit, Hedbury, Seacombe Gallery, etc are quite a drop down to the sea so don't use light gear - you will need to winch your catch up the cliff
Other marks such as lower Seacombe are very, very slippery and exposed to rogue waves. I collect limpets off the ledges for bait and have had a few scares when waves have come out of nowhere.
So if you fancy a long downhill walk from your car knowing that it's going to seem even longer and steeper going back up then head for the Purbeck Quarries - and take a camera because the fishing is fantastic
