I managed to get out for a couple of hours yesterday and headed for Worbarrow Bay with a few lures and a light spinning rod. The carpark at Tyneham was busy but strangely the Bay was almost deserted so I had no problems wandering around near the Tout having a cast or two.
On the Bay side I didn’t have any activity at all so moved round to Pondfield on the east side of the Tout where there was deeper water. Straight away I was into a shoal of Mackerel – not what I was after but a welcome treat for lunch
Changing lures to try and avoid the Mackerel I had a cast nearer the surf around the Tout and within a few minutes got a good pull which put a big bend in my very lightweight rod… I’ve no idea what it was, probably a Bass, but the constant diving, tugging and shaking I could feel left me a little confused?
Sadly after a couple of minutes it shook itself off leaving the lure with a few scratches but otherwise everything intact! Guess who’s going back down there with a heavier rod next week
