Redcliff Bass

Far be it from me to boast - OK then, it's exactly like me to boast Very Happy, but yesterday evening I was loading up one of my spools with new fly line (Flextec Aeroloop WF9F if you're interested) and decided to go down to the beach this morning to have a cast or two to lay the line properly. Instead of heading left along the beach at Osmington I turned right for the long trudge up to Redcliff away from the reefs.

After a few blind casts (no fly attached) I was getting familiar with the way the new line handled and decided that I wouldn't look like a total plonker trying to fish with it, so stuck on a #4 Chartreuse Clouser and had a cast by the rocks at the head... Should have brought my waders as within a minute or so I'd been soaked by a rogue wave It didn't help when after Levi got soaked by the same wave he came up to me to shake himself dry... Evil or Very Mad

20 or 30 minutes of fruitless casting later I was getting tired of my wet trousers sticking to my legs so decided to call it a morning, then in true story-book style I saw a boil of baitfish close in by the shore Smile  A couple of casts later I struck into a good 2-3lb Bass that gave me a bit of fun before I got it away from the rocks and down the beach where I could land it.

The photo's not that good as it's from my phone, not my camera...
